FAQ’s:
So, what exactly is it that your organization does?
- The Key Peninsula Healthy Community, better known as the Key Peninsula Partnership (KPP), has existed for over 9 years.
- We are an asset-based, Community Hub organization, which means we work on several fronts to help strengthen the work of our partners, increase access to already existing health (and other) resources for the community, and connect with multiple agencies to improve long-term BIG challenges that face our community.
- Currently, our 4 focus areas are:
- Increasing public transportation options
- Improving Health & Wellness for the community as a whole
- Increasing access to food and food resources
- Increasing and improving access to childcare options on the KP.
- Our work is impossible without the collaboration and cooperation of other area organizations. We find ways to help them do more of the good work they do.
- Much of our work is connection, to name just a few; we’ve connected donated wheelchair ramps to organizations that need them, we’ve been able to leverage funds to supply AED (defibrillator) units in publicly used buildings; we’ve applied for grants that require multiple agencies to be involved, and in doing so, have brought many thousands of dollars to the KP and our partners.
- BIG issues like Childcare development and Public Transportation are complicated and involve many entities. Much of what we do is identifying the complicated pieces and policies that are involved, figuring out what works for OUR community, and working with lawmakers, public agencies, and other stakeholders to create out of the box solutions for the Key Peninsula.
- In the meantime, we endeavor to connect the KP community to information that is valuable to them.
- We have a Community Health Worker (CHW) who can walk people through the complications of insurance navigation, can help identify which agencies are available to help people and how to contact/get through to them, and is a treasure-trove of local information.
- We put out these weekly updates and have been doing so since 2020.
- Please look at our website, kphealthycommunity.org to learn more, and consider supporting us so that we can continue our long-term work for the KP Community.
