Key Peninsula Council Meeting: Thursday, October 9. Refreshments at 6:00pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm. Thriving Generation Launch Party Friday, October 10, 4:00pm-6:00pm at Gateway Park. Tech-free carnival packed with play-based activities, creative stations, and opportunities to experience life without the distraction of electronic devices.

The Mustard Seed Project-Life After Loss-Grief Support Group at 12:00pm on Monday, October 13.

At Key Peninsula Community services: The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Mobile Community Service Office on Tuesday, October 14, 10:00am to 2:00pm. TacomaProBono Legal Aid, Tuesday, October 14, 10:00am – 12:00 pm at KP Community Services and 1:00pm -3:00pm at The Mustard Seed Project. Information and legal assistance from experts at TacomaProBono. Can help with: Basic legal questions, landlord-tenant issues, family law, advice, & resources. Walk-ins welcome on first come first serve basis.

Steam Kids: Discovery Lab Tuesday, October 14, 3:30pm-5:00pm at the Key Center Library.

Upcoming Key Peninsula Events:

Second Annual Madrona Fest Saturday, October 18, 12:00pm-9:00pm at Key Peninsula Civic Center. They will have vendors starting at 12:00pm, contra dance, workshops, farm to festival menu, and bands set to begin performing at 4:00pm.  They will also have their FIRST photography contest! Tickets are $15 early bird special, $20 at the door and children 12 and under are free!! For additional information and to submit your photos;  https://www.madronafest.com

All Hallows Eve-Monster Bash brought to you by Key Pen Parks Saturday, October 18, 2:00pm-5:00pm at Gateway Park. Wear a costume to win a prize. There will be inflatables, games, crafts, a DJ party dance, FREE cotton candy & popcorn, Orca call contest, and food for purchase.

Activities off the Key Peninsula:

Pierce County Aging and Disability Resources is hosting a new series of the popular “Oh My Gosh – Now What?” seminar beginning Wednesday, October 1. This is a six-part series of discussions designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, families, caregivers, and others focusing on the journey of memory loss. These will be held each Wednesday 12:30pm-1:30pm at Gig Harbor Senior Center at Lutheran Church October 1 through November 5. FAQ’s:

Can I still sign-up for the Scarecrow Contest?

Yes! You can sign-up through Wednesday, October 15th. Either go online at Https://kpfarmtour.com or in person at the KP Community Council Office in the KP Corral.

Scarecrows need to be installed by Friday, October 17th.

Voting: People’s Choice will be in Key Center IGA October 19-26. Judges will determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Winners will be announced on Facebook and in IGA on October 27th.
