Timely News:

Conversation Café Finding My Way – An Arts and Culture Program Wednesday, June 10, 10:30am-11:30am at KP Historical Society and Museum.

Looking for support, understanding, and connection? The ADD/ADHD Support Group meets every Thursday at 2:30pm at KP Community Services. This welcoming group is a place for adults to share experiences, talk through challenges, exchange tips, and connect with others who understand life with ADD/ADHD. Whether you’ve been diagnosed for years or are just beginning your journey, you are welcome here.

Key Peninsula Council Meeting: Thursday, June 11.  Refreshments at 6:00pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm. Guest speaker will be Pierce County Library System’s Executive Director Gretchan Caserotti. She will talk about what modern literacy looks like and what it means for the future of Key Center Library. Rainfall Ranch Community Day Saturday, June 13, 11:00am-3:00pm. FREE Event for the whole family. Bring plants, seeds, bulbs, or garden supplies to donate. Interact with heavy equipment. Scheduled tours of the ranch. Meet horses, goats, and other farm animals. Learn about Healing Hooves. There will be giveaways, food & drinks, family-friendly activities. 3rd Annual Peninsula Homeschool Fair Saturday, June 13, 1:00pm-6:00pm at KP Civic Center. FREE to attend. There will be guest speakers/workshop sessions, food from the KPCC commercial kitchen, Kid’s Entrepreneurial booths, kid’s activities. There are just a few vendor booths still available. DSHS will be at KP Community Services Tuesday, June 23rd 10:00am-2:00pm.

KP Go Electric Carshare launches on the Key Peninsula this summer! Stop by the KP Corral in Key Center on Friday, June 26 from 5pm-7pm to see the KP Go Carshare vehicle and learn about the program. Enjoy live music from KC and the Sound along with goodies and giveaways!

Partners & Pairings: A Fundraiser Dinner Saturday, July 18, 5:00pm-8:00pm Key Peninsula Lutheran Church. Dinner buffet featuring Pasta Pairings catered by Olive Garden (2 types of pasta, 3 sauces, 3 meats, salad, and breadsticks). Tour KP Co-op Preschool’s Forest Friends Nature School,  Sneak peek at KP Go Electric Carshare, Dessert auction, Raffle prizes, Cash bar (beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase). Proceeds will be split 50/50 between Key Peninsula Co-op Preschool & Key Peninsula Partnership for a Healthy Community. Activities off the Key Peninsula:

FREE E-Waste recycling drop-off organized by Black Rock Recycling on Saturday, June 13, 9:00am-4:00pm at Swift Water Elementary School. Not accepting: furniture, lightbulbs/glass, mattresses & foam, chemicals & tires, oil & gasoline. Large appliances, or AC units. Accepted items: Computers & IT, home electronics, cables, components & parts, phones & communication equipment, office & business equipment, scrap, metals and appliances such as oven, microwaves, washers & dryers.

What is Lethal Means Counseling?

It is firearm injury prevention education.

There is a class on this Saturday, June 13, 10:00am-11:00am at Key Center Fire Station..

Special guest Dr. Greg Engel will be helping with this training designed for first responders, community members, and anyone who would like to help keep their neighbors safe.

Here is what you can learn:

  • Understand the patterns of firearm injury in the US and communities using current data
  • Recognize who is most affected and the conditions that drive risk across different types of firearm injury
  • See Firearm injury as a predictable, preventable public health problem
  • Learn practical, evidence-informed ways to reduce risk for yourself, your family, and your community
  • Identify multiple strategies that improve safety, including safe access practices, crisis awareness, and support for others at elevated risk
