Timely News:
Key Center Library: Wednesday, September 9 – Story Time for Babies 10:15am-11:15am, Play Time 1:00pm-2:00pm; Thursday, September 10 – Story Time for Mixed Ages 11:15am-12:15pm; Monday, September 14 – MultiCare WIC Clinic 1:00pm-4:30pm.
Key Peninsula Council Meeting: Thursday, September 10. Refreshments at 6:00pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm. Guest speaker will be Christie Tacket, Director of the KP Farm Tour. KP Community Services will be open for Community Nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30pm-7:30pm. Not just for seniors, all generations welcome. Bring the grandkids or your neighbors and friends. Play games, listen to music, dance, play some ping pong, or just spend the evening together.
Opening Minds through Art (OMA) – Art Show and reception at the Crandall Center Thursday, September 10, 5:00pm-6:00pm. People living with dementia (artists) are paired with volunteers to create art focused on imagination and remaining skills instead of memory and lost skills. Art created by elders living at The Mustard Seed Village.
Key Center Block Party Saturday, September 12 10:00am-5:00pm. Live music, local makers, small businesses, food trucks, kids activities, face painting, raffles, and community fun in Key Center. For additional information: https://www.facebook.com/events/1565828938667689
Music in the Garden Sunday, September 13, 1:00pm-3:00pm at Longbranch Improvement Club Garden. Light refreshments provided. Shuttle but will be leaving KPCS at 1:00pm and returning around 3:00pm. Sign up for the shuttle at KP Community Services front counter.
Life After Loss-Grief Support Group Monday, September 14, 12:15pm at The Mustard Seed Project.
Upcoming Key Peninsula Events:
Scarecrow Contest registration starts September 19 and ends October 21. Sign up your scarecrow at the KP Council office in the Corral or online at kpfarmtour.com. Peoples choice voting will be in Key Center IGA October 23rd-October 28th, and winners will be announced on Facebook and in IGA on October 29.
KP Farm Tour September 26 & 27, 10:00am-4:00pm. Celebrate 20 years of the KP Farm Tour. Visit local farms, meet farmers, and enjoy community vendors and events at various locations. For additional information: https://KPfarmtour.com
Caregiver Academy, September 30 – October 25 at The Mustard Seed Project. Participants will receive all the required hours and training to become a Certified Home Care Aide. Bloom 101: Gardeners Guide to Growing Dahlias Saturday, September 12, 10:00am-11:00am. Located at Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden, 10123 78th Ave NW, Gig Harbor. This class covers how to grow dahlias. When to plant your tubers, why you should pinch your plants and navigating common challenges.
