Key Peninsula Community Services will have a SHIBA Advisor from Peninsula Community Health Services on Wednesday, October 1 at 11:30am to help with any Medicare and other health insurance information you may need. Call 253-884-4440 to be put on the schedule.

Also, at Key Peninsula Community Services (KPCS) hosts the Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) Mobile Medical Clinic on Wednesday, October 1, 1:00pm-3:00pm. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins welcome. Contact the website for more information. (pchsweb.org)

The Key Free Clinic on Thursday, October 2 will be open from 4:30pm-7:00pm at the KP Community Council Office in the Key Center Corral. Check in from 4:30pm-5:00PM

Join Key Pen It Clean at the intersection of Whiteman Rd SE and Lake Drive SW this Saturday, October 4, 10:00am-12:00pm for their Roadside Litter Cleanup. They will supply safety vests, litter grabbers, and trash bags for the day’s use. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring your work glove. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and in good health. Saturday, October 4th KP Civic Center’s fall fundraiser presents Down Home with Joel Gibson Jr! They will have a chili bar and a 50/50 raffle! Ticket includes concert and dinner. Drinks and raffle tickets sold separately. Doors open at 6:00pm for food, and the concert starts at 7:00pm. This is a 21+ Event. $30.00 presale $40.00 at the door. The Mustard Seed Project’s Fall Health Fair and Vaccine Clinic is Tuesday, October 7, 10:00am-2:00pm. Purdy Cost Less will be providing adult Flu and Covid vaccines. Bring your healthcare card and ID.

Thriving Generation Launch Party Friday, October 10, 4:00pm-6:00pm at Gateway Park. Tech-free carnival packed with play-based activities, creative stations, and opportunities to experience life without the distraction of electronic devices.

Harvest Fest at Miracle Ranch October 17-19 and 24-26. Free admission and Parking. There will be some free and affordable family-friendly activities (hay wagon rides, carnival games, hay maze to name a few) and delicious food. Please do not bring pets with you.

PenMet Parks Scarecrow Festival Saturday, October 4, 11:00am-4:00pm at Sehmel Homestead Park. This FREE annual tradition will have live music, local vendors, food trucks, and activities for all ages. There will be a FREE shuttle from Gig Harbor High School from 10:30am-4:15pm.

What is a SHIBA?

SHIBA stands for Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisor

A SHIBA counselor is a trained volunteer who provides free, unbiased, and confidential assistance with Medicare and related health care choices. They help individuals understand their Medicare rights, options, and coverage needs, including evaluating and comparing health insurance plans, and answering questions about Medicare programs. SHIBA counselors are available to assist anyone receiving Medicare, including those under age 64 and those preparing to turn 65.
