Timely News:
Here is what is happening at the Key Center Library: KP Readers – An Hour of Coffee and Conversation Wednesday, July 2 at 10:30am-11:30am; Family Story Time Thursday, July 3, 10:30am-11:30am; Baby Story Time Tuesday, July 8, 10:15am-11:00am; Science Heroes – Color Our World Tuesday, July 8, 2:00pm-2:45pm.
Key Peninsula Community Services (KPCS) hosts the Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) Mobile Medical Clinic on Wednesday, July 2 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins welcome. Contact the website for more information. (pchsweb.org)
Home 4th of July Parade begins at 10:00am. Vehicles, floats and those marching begin lining up along the KP Hwy shoulder from the corner of A street and the bridge over Von Geldern Cove to the south.
Third annual 4th of July Hot Dog Social at WayPoint South, 10:00am-1:00pm. This is a FREE event.
Bird Walk Saturday, July 5 at 8:30am. Join Chris Rurik, the KP Nature Guide, around Gateway Park’s hidden beaver pond and back woods.
TacomaProBono Legal Aid, every 2nd Tuesday (This month July 8) 10:00am – 12:00 pm at KPCS and 1:00pm -3:00pm at The Mustard See Project. Information and legal assistance from experts at TacomaProBono. Can help with: Basic legal questions, landlord-tenant issues, family law, advice, & resources. Walk-ins welcome on first come first serve basis.
Free summer lunches for kids of all ages Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 8-August 28 starting at 12:00pm while lunches last. They will be at the following locations: Gateway Park, Home Park, Vaughn Civic Center, Gig Harbor Skate Park, and Gig Harbor Library. FAQ’:
Are fireworks allowed in Unincorporated Pierce County?
Yes, they are, but there are restrictions.
- They are allowed on July 4 from 10:00am-11:59pm.
- They are banned in all city, county and state parks
The Pierce County Fire Marshal DOES have the authority to prohibit firework discharge if conditions become too dangerous. The Fire Marshall makes this determination based upon fuel moisture content, DNR data and in discussion with Pierce County Fire Chiefs.
You can report illegal firework discharge by calling the non-emergency line: 253-287-4455 or 800-562-9800.
Fireworks are not allowed at all within City limits in Gig Harbor ($1,000 Fine)
