Skate Night at the KP Civic Center will be happening every Friday in March! :00 pm to 7:00 pm is K-3rd grade, 7:00 to 9:00 pm is K – 8th grade. $6 per child, parents skate free. For more information, go to: https://www.kpciviccenter.org/skate-night.html

Altrus International, Gig Harbor, is once again holding their “Empty Bowls” fundraiser this Saturday, March 2nd, from 11:00 to 2:00 at Chapel Hills Church in Gig Harbor. Proceeds go to combat childhood hunger and recipients include KP organizations such as Red Barn Youth Center, KP Community Services, and Backpacks 4 Kids. The Key Peninsula Historical Society has a new exhibit, “The Road Show” about the history of roads on the KP. Find the exhibit, and the rest of the museum, at the KP Civic Center (side building behind the main space). Open Tuesdays and Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00 pm, free admission. As part of their new program, “Food 4 All”, Food Backpacks 4 Kids is looking for volunteers to help on their farm and is starting “Farm Fridays”. What is the “Empty Bowls” event happening this Saturday?
- Empty Bowls, sponsored in our area by Altrusa (a service organization) is an international effort to combat hunger.
- Artisans and craftspeople have made beautiful bowls which attendees buy.
- Local restaurants are there to fill your new bowl with delicious soup (all donated)
- Bowls come at different prices but start at $10. Attendees take their beautiful bowls home.

- In 2023, $30,000 was raised and shared among a number of local agencies.
- It is a grassroots movement between artisans, craftspeople, and non-profit organizations around the world to make bowls to help people thing about both filling bowls, but also, empty bowls.
- The idea is to think globally, act locally to combat hunger and live gererously
