What has your organization done for the Key Peninsula?
- We write and distribute a weekly “Community Update”
- We have a gas card program providing thousands of dollars worth of gas cards to our partners so that they can get their clients to appointments, medical assistance, jobs, etc.
- We partnered with over a dozen community organizations including KP Lutheran Church, LIC, and the KP Community Council to bring important health information to the community and health needs and concerns to the Tacoma Pierce County Health Dept. This project funded our partners to the tune of $100,000 over 2 years.
- In just the last 18 months we underwrote the KP Fire Department’s program to install grab bars and other safety equipment, helped the KP Civic Center maintain its wheelchair lift, provided support for Farm Tour and the Red Barn Youth Center, supplied the KP Lutheran Church with an Automatic Emergency Defibrillator, and many more small actions that make big impacts..
How was the KP Partnership formed?
The KP Partnership project was the result of many community leaders coming together with a major funder in 2015 to find a way to make a bigger impact. The idea of an asset-based community organization came together. Initially fiscally sponsored by the KP Community Council, the KP Partnership grew in scope and was granted its own 501c3 status in 2020. It is now in its 8th year under the leadership of Ben and Susan Paganelli along with a dedicated Board of Directors.
