Timely News:

KP Coffee Hour in the KP Community Council Office located at 9013 Key Peninsula Hwy. NW, Suite D, Key Center. Tacoma Pierce County Health Department: Food Safety are presenting this month at 11:00am, Thursday May 22.

KP Kids meeting on Thursday, May 22 at 1:00pm at The Red Barn Youth Center. This is a NEW permanent location.

Teen Time! -Book Bingo at Key Center Library Thursday, May 22, 3:00pm-4:00pm in the Key Center Meeting Room.

KP Relatives Raising Kids is happening Thursday, May 22 (and every 4th Thursday) at KP Lutheran Church 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Email Lori at childcare@kphealthycommunity.org for more information.

Baby Lounge at KP Civic Center Friday, May 23, 11:30am-1:30pm.

The Scott Gallacher Memorial Spray & Play Park at Gateway Park opens for the season on Memorial Weekend, Saturday, May 24. It will be open 10:00am-6:00pm through Labor Day weekend.

Also, with Key Pen Parks “Agents of Discovery.” This is a free educational entertainment app that makes learning fun. Download the free app from the App Store or Google Play.

Memorial Day Dance at Longbranch Improvement Club Saturday, May 24, 7:30pm-11:00pm. Featuring The Tim Hall Band. Full bar available, no outside beverages, outside food okay. Port Orchard Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday 9:00am-2:00pm through October 18. Downtown Port Orchard at the Waterfront Park.

In recognition of Community Action Month and Older Americans Month, Pierce County Human Services is offering a free film screening, resource fair and community discussion focused on poverty, equity, and community resilience. Friday, May 30, 3:00pm – 6:00pm at Pacific Lutheran University/Anderson University Center. The resource fair begins at 3:00pm and the film, Cooked: Survival by Zip Code, begins at 4:00pm. Have you heard about the Art Scholarships available through Two Waters Arts Alliance?

The Beverly Bier-Pederson scholarship

If you are a Key Peninsula resident studying at an accredited art school, college or university, there is a $2,000 grant. And if you teach are on the Key Peninsula you could receive a $500 teaching scholarship.

Scholarship applications open annually in March and close in June. They will be awarded in July.
