Timely News:
The Key Center Library will be having Story Time for Babies Wednesday, March 11: 10:15am-11:15am; Story Time for Mixed Ages Thursday, March 12: 11:15am-12:15pm; Play Time Friday, March 13: 1:00pm-2:00pm; Button Party-a Teen STEAM Program Saturday, March 14: 12:00pm-1:30pm.
Conversation Café The Red Address Book – An Arts and Culture Program at Key Peninsula Historical Society & Museum Wednesday, March 11: 10:30am-11:30am.
Key Peninsula Council Meeting: Thursday, March 12. Refreshments at 6:00pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm. Executive Ryan Mello to speak on the State of Pierce County. Anyone is welcome at the meetings. There is usually time for questions. There is a 3 min limit per person. Mason Bee class at Sunnycrest Nursery Saturday, March 14 at 11:00am. This is a FREE class to learn how to raise these little pollinators to get the best pollination for your fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. Learn how to house and propagate them for next year’s harvest and beyond. Class time is approximately 1 hour in the greenhouse. Sign up in the store any time before class begins.
Key Peninsula Lions Club – Citizen of the Yeat Celebration, Saturday, March 14 at KP Civic Center. Doors open 5:00pm, Dinner 6:00pm. Keynote Speaker – Larry Seaquist. Tickets are $35.
Scholarship Opportunity. Ben B. Cheney Foundation High School Scholarship Program. $3,000 to attend school next year. Criteria: Must be a high school senior, graduating this year from a Pierce County or South Bend high school, played at least one year of a WIAA varsity sport (Did you know girls’ flag football is on the list now!?), and plans to attend a vocational/tech, 2- or 4-year not-for-profit college in the fall. Another Scholarship opportunity, open to artists of all ages. The Beverly Bier-Pedersen Scholarship grants $2,000 annually to a serious art student from this area and if you teach art on the KPN you qualify for a $500 teaching scholarship. Applications open annually in March, close in June and are awarded in July. For additional information: www.TwoWaters.org
Upcoming Key Peninsula Events:
Introduction to herbal remedies call at Sunnycrest Nursery Saturday, March 21 at 11:00am. This is a Free call to teach the basic foundation of herbs and how to make some useful home remedies. Class size is limited to 15 people and will last approximately 1 hour. Plants available with a free raffle. Sign up in the store before class begins.
You’re invited to attend the upcoming Full Council In-District Meeting at the Key Peninsula Civic Center on Thursday, April 2 at KP Civic Center! Community resources and information tables from Pierce County departments and local partners will be available from 4:30–5:30 PM, with the council meeting beginning at 5:30 PM. The theme of the evening is State of the Key Peninsula — covering all things that impact the Key Peninsula community. This is a great opportunity to connect directly with county staff, learn about services and projects, and share your questions and ideas. We hope to see you there!
The spring 2026 session of Caregiver Academy at The Mustard Seed Project will take place April 20-May 29. This session will be a new online and in-person hybrid format. The class fee is $75 and they have scholarships available. To register or for more information email programs@themustardseedproject.org
Livable Community Fair will be Saturday, May 9 at KP Civic Center, 10:00am-3:00pm. Non-profits & Community service organizations as well as local businesses sign-up early to host a booth. Activities off the Key Peninsula
Shamrock’n the Harbor 5K and 12K at Cushman Trail Monday, March 16. Starts at Hollycroft Trail Head. 12K begins at 8:30am, with 8:00am check-in. 5K begins at 9:00am, with 8:30am check-in. Pick up bibs on Friday, March 13 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Best Western Inn and Suites. Day of bib pick-up will be between 7 and 8:30am. The first 50 participants to register will receive a custom fleece blanket. All adult participants receive an event dry wick performance T, water bottle, and race medal.
