 Timely News:

Key Center Library: KP Readers, An hour of coffee and conversation Wednesday, August 6, 10:30am-11:30am; The Healing Power of Creativity in Grief Wednesday, August 6, 1:00pm-3:00pm; Family Story Time Thursday, August 7, 10:30am-11:30am; Paint a Rock at Gateway Park Tuesday, August 12, 10:00am-11:00am. Rocks and paint supplies will be provided.

Key Peninsula Community Services (KPCS) hosts the Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) Mobile Medical Clinic on Wednesday, August 6, 1:00pm-3:00pm. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins welcome. Contact the website for more information. (pchsweb.org)

Also, at KPCS: The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Mobile Community Service Office on Tuesday, August 12, 10:00am to 2:00pm. They can assist with most of the same services that are offered in their offices. For more information: https://www.dshs.wa.gov/node/38444

The Key Free Clinic on Thursday, August 7 will be open from 4:30pm-7:00pm at the KP Community Council Office in the Key Center Corral. Check in from 4:30pm-5:00PM

Cinema Under the Stars; watch “Elemental” with Key Pen Parks at Gateway Park August 8. Bring your own chairs, blankets, snack, and drinks. No alcohol, smoking or vaping in Key Pen Parks.  The movie starts at dusk. For additional information: www.keypenparks.com

The Mustard Seed Project-Life After Loss-Grief Support Group at 12:00pm on Monday, August 11.

TacomaProBono Legal Aid, Tuesday, August 12, 10:00am – 12:00 pm at KP Community Services and 1:00pm -3:00pm at The Mustard Seed Project. Information and legal assistance from experts at TacomaProBono. Can help with: Basic legal questions, landlord-tenant issues, family law, advice, & resources. Walk-ins welcome on first come first serve basis.

Free summer lunches for kids of all ages Tuesdays & Thursdays, through August 28 starting at 12:00pm while lunches last. They will be at the following locations: Gateway Park, Home Park, Vaughn Civic Center, Gig Harbor Skate Park, and Gig Harbor Library. Upcoming Key Peninsula Events:

Food Backpacks 4 Kids is looking for volunteers to help with The 6th Annual Community Clothing Event. They are accepting donations through August 10 at: Best Western (Gig Harbor), Harbor Christian Center, KP Lutheran Church, The Kids Dentist (Gig Harbor), Purdy Cost Less, St. John’s Episcopal Church on Skansie Ave, Waypoint Church North, TAPCO Credit Union. This year, leading up to the event, they will be sorting at their new property in Key Center, 15717 88th St NW, Lakebay WA 98349 (Big Yellow House past the Key Center Library). The actual Clothing event itself will be held at the Key Peninsula Civic Center on August 22-24. You can sign up for as many shifts as you would like. Tacoma Narrows Airport Day Saturday, August 16. Gates open at 9:00am, welcome 9:30, activities 10:00am-4:00pm. This is a FREE, family- friendly event. Watch airport activities, visit airport businesses, honor our military, try STEM activities for kids, check out aviation displays and booths, see aircraft flybys, and more.

2nd Annual Key Peninsula Civic Center Benefit Car Show Saturday, September 13, 10:00am-1:00pm. Free for Spectators/$20 Advanced Vehicle Registration/$30 Day of Vehicle Registration. For additional information: https://www.kpciviccenter.org

Boot Scoot N’ Boogie the Night Away at the KP Business Association Annual Dinner Sunday, September 21, 5:00pm-8:00pm at the KP Civic Center. There will be line dancing, auction, dinner and desert. For additional information: https://kpba.org

Activities off the Key Peninsula:

Summer Movies in the Park with PenMet Parks. “Moana 2” will be playing at the Sehmel Homestead Park Amphitheater Friday, August 8, 9:00pm.

The Cruz Car Show Sunday, August 10, 10:00am-4:00pm in downtown Port Orchard. Free to attend.

Summer Sounds Concert Series at Skansie Park Tuesday, August 12, 6:00pm-8:00pm. Playing is Kalimba.
