The Whisper Foundation, part of the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation, was the first funder to invest in the Key Peninsula Partnership for a Healthy Community. They had received many grant requests from a variety of Key Peninsula organizations over the years. Frequently, those requests for funding overlapped and the Foundation believed that the community could be best served through a partnership approach to “moving the needle” in improving those overlapping areas, and so the KP Partnership was born.
M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust awarded a 3-year capacity-building grant to the KP Partnership in 2025, which supported the hiring of one additional staff member. Adding staff to our small organization enabled the implementation of our new electric carshare program, increased visibility of the KP Partnership in the community, and established new streams of fundraising.
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) funded a 2023 study on the current state of transportation on the Key Peninsula. The data from that study supported a 2025 grant application for the WSDOT Zero-emission Access Program (ZAP) grant, which funded the creation and implementation of the KP Go Electric Carshare program in 2026.
Funding from Elevate Health supports the KP Partnership’s Community Health Worker (CHW) program. Our CHW connects residents with services that can be difficult for many people to navigate. The CHW provides a trusted connection for resources and information in the community.
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, a member of Common Spirit, supports the KP Partnership’s Connecting the KP Through Food program. Funding for this program is shared with our Partner, Food 4 All.
Funding provided by Tacoma Pierce County Health Department focuses on building Trusted Communication Partners within the Key Peninsula community. This funding supported the setup and initial operations of the KP Partnership’s Community Healthy Worker program.
The Ruth Evans Murphy Charitable Trust (managed by GTCF) granted funding to support work breaking the cycle of generational poverty on the Key Peninsula.
The Sequoia Foundation supports the KP Partnership’s new Digital Equity program, improving access to internet-based and telehealth services.
The Bamford Foundation grants support improving options for childcare on the Key Peninsula.
Along with many generous contributions from Key Peninsula residents and others who support strengthening and connecting our community! THANK YOU!
