There is always a lot happening at the Key Center Library: No Tears Tech Help. It is April 9, 16 & 23, 10am-1pm, Family Story Time Thursday, April 10, 10:30am-11:30am, MultiCare WIC Clinic Thursday, April 10, 1:00pm-4:30pm, Free Tax Prep-Vita Associated Ministries for income eligible Monday, April 14, 11:00am-5:00pm, Baby Story Time Tuesday, April 15, 10:15am-11:00am (Babies 0-2), Kids Maker Fun Tuesday, April 15, 3:30pm-5:00pm.
Key Peninsula Council Meeting: Thursday, April 10. Refreshments at 6:00pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm. This meeting will feature updates from the KP Community Council, KP office partners, and their various subcommittees. The Mustard Seed Project-Life After Loss-Grief Support Group at 12:00pm on Monday, April 14 and every second Monday each month.
All Caregivers Support Group at the Key Peninsula Lutheran Church. This is every 2nd Monday of each month, this month is on April 14, 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
Upcoming Key Peninsula Events:
KP Community Services is having their Bikes & BBQ Spring Charity Ride on Saturday April 19. All proceeds go to the expansion of their Food Pantry. They will have Bikes-12:00pm, craft booths-9:00am, burgers-including veggie, rummage sale-9:00am, raffles, silent auction-all day, and live music starting at 12:00pm.

PEP-C Emergency Preparedness Expo Saturday, April 12, 10:00am-3:00pm at Gig Harbor High School: Wildland Fire Evacuation Exercise-Gig Harbor based scenario 12:00pm-12:45pm, Key Peninsula based scenario 1:00pm-1:45pm. “Stop the Bleed” hands-on course 2:00pm-3:00pm. Does Food Backpacks 4 Kids just supply food to kids?
No, the following are the many things they provide for the community.
- Food Backpacks filled with child friendly foods sent into 14 schools each week throughout the school year.
- Care Cupboards in the schools
- Family Pantry: Is open 12:00pm-6:00pm Tuesday-Thursday.
- Home Delivery: Volunteer drivers deliver food bags to about 50 households weekly.
- Clothing Giveaway: Every summer they collect clothing and invite anyone in the community to shop for free.
- Food 4 All: Rehabilitated a run down 43-acre farm into a food producing garden, greenhouse, and fruit trees. This allows them to get fresh food to the community.
- Summer Lunch in the Park: Distributes sack lunches in different parks, as well as low-income communities to get food to children.
- Back 2 School: Helping outfit children with new school clothes, shoes, school supplies, and many other resources.
- Holiday Meals: Stocking the Pantry with foods families request for traditional holiday meals as well as the nutritious foods they need.
- Family Resource Center: Advocates for people in crisis and connecting resources to the people who need them.
Food Backpacks 4 Kids is hiring for 3 positions: Program Manager, Office Administrator, and Development Manager. Reach out to them for additional information about these positions.
